one of the things that I got from the visit in the school was

that there are many different perceptions of what the uni-

verse holds. for some it is the vast distances and sizes of

everything that will be a trigger for contemplation and for

others it might be the idea that there are so many things

we still do not know about the universe. the gap between

the perception and reality can sometimes be huge, and I

want to incorporate this in my design. When you enter the

structure you are faced with two options; one is to go up

towards the stars, and the other one is to go down towards

the earth. these two spaces can be related back to the in-

tention programme, as the ground floor is focusing on the

reality we live in, with trees and the texture of the ground,

and the upper deck is focused towards the stars. the

structure is not shaped like a tower, nor is it framing the

sky. this is because I want the users to be a part of the sky

while they contemplate about what might be out there, and

not be constantly reminded of their surroundings. In order

to enhance the feeling of going up into something big, the

stairs are getting wider the further up you get.
