The use of model-making in various scales

has and will always be an important tool for

architects. Designing and building in scale 1:1

is a unique aspect of learning that NTNU offers

architecture students through their wooden

constructions course. The spring course of 2015

gave students the opportunity to design and

build a stargazing structure in rindal.

Students were able to gain insight into the

transition between conceptual drawings and

a realized structure. An understanding of

construction, prefabrication, properties of wood,

collaboration and craftsmanship were all gained

during the process. Such skills are important for

architects wanting to create innovative wooden

architecture.

This book documents the process of the entire

course from the first sketches to the built

structure.
