the story BehInd the cave

“looking at the stars” is a very simple and pure action by itself,

so the first question that came to my mind was “how could

architecture contribute to such innate performance?”.

the ideas of shelter and protection came soon, as well as the

framing of a stage such as the universe, in order to highlight its

own value.

the cave is therefore the utmost conception of the mentioned

concepts.

taking it to the limit, there was also the experience of going

down which would emphasize the journey and contrast the act

of looking up. We can find arguments for that in the site as well,

where the section works for any height chosen because of the

open field beside and also the gravel would make the procedure

easy.

the shape of the plan was given by the flows in the corner,

coming from the path alongside the field, so the project would

pick up the people and soak them into the concavity. there they

would be guarded to observe the stars.

In order to choose the section, the spiral was standing out

because of this property of “coming from a close space and

opening towards the exterior” and it also transmitted the foetus

feeling; checking its qualities once working with the human

scale, it turned into a quite convincing option which would

embrace the user.
