IntentIon Program
With the graphical visualization of my
intentions for the stargazing structure in
rindal, I began the project on an emotional
level, finding a connection between the concept
of stargazing and the physical object. my
intention can be summarized in one word -
tranquility. the definition here of looking at
the stars is to reach that calm state of mind
where you lay comfortably looking up, and your
imagination ships away on the sea of thoughts.
It is a space that captures the sky and creates
identity for especially the children of rindal.
the structure
from being an open bowl-like structure with a
curved inside to lay and look up, the structure
changed in the process from being extroverted
to being an introverted space and framing
the view in order to focus it and to protect
against distraction. Imagine a landscape or an
every-day street scene and then just a frame
directing your view on it. through that simple
operation the scenery becomes special and
gains a new perspective. from the outside
the object follows a geometrical order, it does
not try to fit into the topographical order of
the landscape and does not pretend to be a
part of nature but exposes it and corresponds
with it solely through its material. the design
is kept simple to enhance the visitors view
on the rough beauty of nature and not be a
distraction. the inside then reveals a space
that the people from rindal probably never
have experienced before. the three sections
are designed to have places to sit, go up and
lay down, inspired by wooden lounge chairs in
order to make it comfortable looking up to the
stars. the structure is placed directly north-
south to help orienting to the stars.
