Hvilken rolle spiller egentlig offshore-satsningen vår i energiomstillingen?

Through this interactive workshop, we welcome PhDs and Post docs to contribute with their knowledge related to low carbon transition of the energy system and the society. We meet in inspiring surroundings at Kringler Gjestegård. The workshop is organized as part of the work in NTRANS Research Area 4, focusing on transition pathways. PhDs and post doc produce essential research in NTRANS, and it is important to bring these insights into broader discussions about low carbon transitions.
The workshop will help participants develop a better understanding of their individual PhD and Post-post projects’ contribution to low carbon transitions and develop practical skills and strategies for communicating their research results to different types of audiences outside academia. At the end of the workshop each participant will have written their own popular science text that can be used in the NTRANS newsletter, on the NTRANS webpage or submitted to a popular science communication channel or newspaper.

Workshopserie
Energikrisen i Europa

This workshop is part of NTNU Energy Transition Week 2022
One of the NTNU Energy Transition Initiative's goals is to build network of young professionals in Norway. The network will be called the Green Energy Shifters Network. Members of the Green Energy Shifters Network are young professionals from businesses, academia, and public administration (municipalities, fylkeskommune etc). The aim of the network is to provide networking opportunities and knowledge exchange so that the energy transition in Norway is accelerated.
This workshop at the Energy Transition week will be the kick-off for the Green Energy Shifters Network. In order to start building a community, the workshop will start with "speed dating" opportunities, followed by a presentation by NN on how the Ukrainian Invasion is likely to influence energy policy in Europe and Norway.

It is getting well known that CDR at scale can offset hard-to-reduce emission streams and remove historic emissions from the atmosphere.
However, knowledge and solutions are lagging behind (?), and what to zoom in on (?)
Purpose
In this workshop we will seek insight to better understand the drivers, uncertainties, and deployment potential of CDR solutions. To focus, we will initially concentrate on seaweed farming, bio-CCS (BECCS) and direct air capture (DAC).

In this workshop, we bring together academics, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore how to make the European clean energy transition a just energy transition. Our point of departure is a recent white paper, led by members of the European Energy Research Alliance. We look at the just energy transition from the perspectives of distributional, procedural, and recognitional justice. In this workshop, we endeavour to explore this topic deeper with the goal of producing an outline of tangible approaches in the form of a policy brief for the European Commission and national governments.

In this workshop, we will explore the potential of engaging new societal actors in communication for climate action, who have not already been linked to the topic but have a large reach. This can be football players, musicians, artists, influencers, etc. We will discuss, what the role of these communicators can be and how we can forge alliances between science and these communicators

This workshop is part of NTNU Energy Transition Week 2022
The IPCC scenarios are dire, and the likelihood that mankind is able to reach the 1.5 degrees target (or even the 2.0 degrees target) are getting smaller every day. At the same time, scientific knowledge about how grim the future with climate change of more than 2 degrees will look like is growing, and more and more people around the globe are aware of this threat. For many, it is more and more difficult not to resign and give up the fight, and instances of substantial climate worry, which impairs the quality of life, are getting more frequent. In this workshop, we will explore how being confronted with one of the most substantial threats in human history affects people emotionally, how to deal with this state of emotional alarm, and – maybe – how to not give up.

Hopefully, you have all had a great and relaxing summer vacation. We are all charged up and ready to start our series of lunch webinars for our partners.
Please note: The day and time is changed to Wednesdays between 12-13.
Programme for the next webinars will be added soon.
Lunch webinar agenda Wednesday 25 August, at 12-13
Speakers:
Helene Muri, NTNU Industrial Ecology and IPCC
Tone Ibenholt, Research council of Norway
We welcome you to the first NTRANS lunch webinar of the semester! The IPCC recently released a new assessment report, and following this, climate change and energy transitions have gained an even more prominent place in the public debate. This year’s Norwegian elections could become a ‘climate election’, and the work of NTRANS researchers, public sector partners and industry partners, is growing in importance.
In this lunch webinar we get insights from behind the scenes, as Helene Muri, one of the authors of the report provides key insights and implications from the work. We are also visited by Tone Ibenholt from the Research council of Norway, who will talk about the research council’s plans to address climate change and low carbon transitions in the near future.
The webinar will be a mixed-language session (English/Norwegian).
