NORDIC MASTER in AQUATIC FOOD PRODUCTION-SAFETY AND QUALITY
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The Nordic Master's Programme in “Aquatic
Food production – Safety and Quality”
AQFood focuses on production of aquatic
food throughout the entire production and
food supply chain, linking primary production
including aquaculture and wild catch with
processing and distribution to the consumers
in terms of quality and safety. The AQFood
Nordic Master's Programme offers three dis-
tinct study lines of specialization, one dealing
with Aquatic Production, a second study line
dealing with Natural Resources and a third
one dealing with Industrial Production. All
study lines take the entire value chain as a
unique starting point. The first semester (30
ECTS) is given essentially as e-learning.
AQFood is offered by a consortium of five
leading universities in the Nordic countries,
DTU- Denmark, NTNU- Norway, UMB-
Norway, SLU-Sweden and HI- Iceland. The
universities are working together to deliver a
key education for the aquatic food sector.
STUDY ENVIRONMENT
The staff involved in the programme are
active in research and are involved in
international cooperation within research
and development projects. The education
includes lectures, seminars, and a large
amount of project work. It is given in close
connection to different companies which
enable visits, guest lectures and sharp pro-
ject work. All universities are well equipped
with data bars and other computing facilities
making it possible to include numerical
simulation in the learning process and in this
way to prepare you for your future work in
industry or science.
