USE
You arrive the platform from the hilltop. There are two sheltered
spaces with roofing on top. This gives you the possibility of
enjoying the birdlife even on a rainy day without damaging your
camera equipment etc. The roofs are slightly tilted towards
south-west where the majority of the wind and moist come
from. This could also be a place for getting information about
the different birds to be seen by the lake.
The horizontal platform becomes a gallery where you can view
the fauna from several places with different caracteristics;
in between the trees, high above the ground, in the sun, in
the shade, sheltered, exposed etc. There are four cuts in the
platform to allow the trees to grow inside the structure.
CONSTRUCTION
An important focus became to make a system that could be
easily manufactured and erected.
The primary structural system of the construction is a set
of frames as seen on the scetches to the right. The vertical
columns are double 48 mm by 148 mm wood. These “legs”
are the only elements touching the fundaments, and to secure
a horizontal platform the length of the columns varies. This is
the only part that separates the eleven frames from eachother.
Carrying the platform and roof are 48 mm by 198 mm wood
beams. In addition to these frames, the perspective scetches
to the right shows the other components; trusses, bracings,
secondary structure, floor and roofing and screens.
