Application of furnace
Properties:
- Temperature limit: 1750°C in manual (has been used at 2000°C)
- Manual heating control
- Max power: 7.5 kW
- Thermocouple connection available inside furnace
- Crucible size:
- OD Ø80mm (normally)
- Height 160mm, max 200mm
- Atmosphere:
- Argon or other inert gas must be used
- Some CO gas must be assumed (from trace oxygen reacting with crucible)
- Gas purging
- Sampling
- Crucible visible through glass
Can not be used for
- crucibles in other materials than graphite
Previously used for
- melting/preparation of alloys (Al, Si, Fe, ...) and slags
- sampling of molten metal into top-mounted quartz tube
- immersion of lances, tubes, etc
Before you begin
- Contact equipment responsible:
- Equipment may not be used without training
- Contact room responsible for access.
