About Abaqus

Abaqus is a powerful multiphysics FEA software with integrated tools for modelling and meshing. The same software can be used for totally different analyses on a 3D model, including dynamic vibration, nonlinear static, thermal coupling and deformation analyses. How to download and install Abaqus


**NOTE: You must be directly connected to the [[http://www.ntnu.no/adm/it/eduroamoppsett/|eduroam]] wireless network (at NTNU to be able to follow this installation procedure.**


**NB: THE CURRENT SOFTWARE VERSION ON OUR SERVERS, 6.12, DOES NOT SUPPORT WINDOWS 8. WE ARE WORKING ON GETTING THE LATEST VERSION, WHERE THIS PROBLEM IS SUPPOSED TO BE FIXED. SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE.**


- Map network drive [[\\ifile1.ivt.ntnu.no\progdist]]. If you are having trouble mapping the network drive, please follow the instructions on [[https://innsida.ntnu.no/wiki/-/wiki/English/Connect+to+your+home+directory+via+Windows|innsida]].
- At the network drive, go to: Campus\Abaqus\6.12\kilde to access the newest version of the Abaqus software
- Start setup.exe, and follow the instructions.
- You will be asked if you have remembered to install Abaqus Documentation. Ignore this, and click "continue"
- Choose Installation type: "Abaqus Product"
- When asked for license server, type: 27500@lisens02.ivt.ntnu.no
- When asked for documentation URL, type: http://ivt-abaqusdoc.ivt.ntnu.no:2080/v6.12/



The rest of the installation should be quite straight-forward.
