How to use the booking system ("BookitLab") for DaVinci1

The samples for the DaVinci1 diffractometer are put in a queue, and the measurements are started every morning and afternoon by the lab-responsible or appointed substitute. The exact timing of your experiments is therefore not so critical here, as long as the total time is correct.

Log on to bookitlab (https://core.bookitlab.com/ntnu/) using your NTNU feide user account and go to home. If you do not have a feide account please contact the lab responsible.

Here click on the arrow box  next to the Timeline.

Find the DaVinci1 – X-ray Diffractogram instrument in the list and click somewhere on the timeline.

Fill in the New Reservation form using the following steps:

  1. Start and end time of the reservation. Start the reservation at the next available time slot and make the duration equal to the total time you are measuring.
  2. Change the user and project name is the auto filled data is not correct.
  3. Add the sample position, where you put the sample in the magazine, for example D15 and D14 (Mandatory)
  4. Choose the sample holder type, example: normal or Si-cavity – 10mm (Mandatory)
  5. You can add any remarks for the engineer in the remarks box (Voluntary)
  6. You can add any notes to yourself in the reservation note box (Voluntary)
  7. When you are done click create reservation.

If you press the calculate credit button it will show how much the reservation will cost.

IMPORTANT: The first time you book the instrument the status will be pending, as the engineer need to check that you have had the correct training. This will be changed to Approved if a training is confirmed, if not you will be contacted.

Other usefull information:

If you get an error message saying that you are missing the prerequisite New user training – XRD please contact the lab responsible and we will add you to the list.

Pleare remeber to write your name on the samples, the Lab-responsible checks:

  • Is your name written on the sample holder? (use only water soluble pens)
  • Did you create a booking for your measurements?

Before starting any measurements, if any of these are missing, your samples will be removed from the queue and put on the bench.
