How to use the
...
Example: DaVinci2 configured in a special mode: Check the “Announcements” on the “Dashboard” in the Booking system.
Go to the Booking system and make a reservation for vacant time that suits you, including time for setting up. This is just to get a good idea of the availability of the instrument, you will not be billed via this system any longer. For the billing we use the Excel log as described below.
Click on the calendar for a suitable start time, and adjust the reservation length in the reservation box shown below.
Logging
When you have started your measurements, and know how long time they will take, then please fill in the Excel log on the measurement PCs (for the A-unit, please see below).
DaVinci2
If not already open, please find the file here: \\davinci2\log.xlsx, and insert relevant information. If a measurement takes longer than 9 hours, just put in number of days (and we use day price).
A-unit
There seems to be a problem with Excel on the old PC, so you can use the analysis computers instead to access the Excel log.
- Go to the analysis PC:
- Select the folder for A-unit data
- Double-click on the excel log file (a-unit log.xlsx)
- Fill in relevant details. If a measurement takes longer than 9 hours, just put in number of days (and we use day price). Example shown below:

Log on to bookitlab (https://core.bookitlab.com/ntnu/) using your NTNU feide user account and go to home. If you do not have a feide account, please contanct the lab responsible.
First: Make sure you have added the IMA – XRD-lab in your filter at the top right corner of the screen.
Click on Instruments and then Timeline in the menu to the left.
Find the DaVinci2/A-unit instrument in the list and click somewhere on the timeline
Fill in the New Reservation form using the following steps:
- Start and end time of the reservation. The end time should be after your measurements are done.
- Change the user and project name is the auto filled data is not correct.
- You can add any remarks for the engineer in the remarks box (Voluntary)
- When you are done click create reservation.
Note: If you press the calculate credit button it will show how much the reservation will cost.
IMPORTANT: The first time you book the instrument the status will be pending, as the engineer need to check that you have had the correct training. You cannot use the instrument until the status have been changes to Approved.
It you get an error message saying that you are missing the prerequisite New user training – XRD please contact the lab responsible and we will add you to the list.
NOTES for DaVinci2:
The current set-up for DaVinci2 is the Mo source. The sample stage can be changed from capillary to rotary stage.

How to put in a servise request:
Go to Request services and then Requests. Click the plus sign and then choose Apply for Advanced setup in DaVinci2.
You also need to select yourself as the user and add a project number.
Selecte the project for the request:
Fill in the Request Form:
Write any commetns in the Request Comments/Files field and click Submit/Process when you are done!
After submitting you will not be able to make changes to the request!
