I'm a PhD candidate. What percentage increase in annual salary should I claim? Is it 5.3% or some other values? What is the meaning of "general raise" in point 8?
If you are an average NTNU employee, you can claim the average increase of 5,3% (for example 543000), but if you are better than the average NTNU employee, you can claim a little bit more, like 6-7% maybe, and see how it goes in the negotiations with your faculty.
The meaning of "general raise" in point 8 is that “a 3% automatic pay increase will be given depending on the start date (which is usually August, for many PhD Candidates.)”.
So, if you claim 5,3% successfully now (from May 2023), you will automatically get another 3% from August 2023, so your total increase from April to August will be 8,3%, if your claim is accepted as it is in the negotiations.
