Some remarks/thoughts

  • Right now a lot of the equipment that was in contact with the cells during the experiment gets discarded after use. We have to consider our methods for sterilization/changing out parts of the system thoroughly.

  • We must ensure sterile air. The lab had some equipment for sucking up CCM that contained and air filtering mechanism.

  • We should make our system compatible with other equipment in the lab e.g. have a function that inserts a little bit of the sample to the small plates used in the Cell Counting Machine.

  • For imaging, the regular glass plates are too thick and Felicity told us that nobody would want to use those for imaging. Instead we should use the thin plastic ones.

  • We should take a closer look at how experiments are done on the epithelial cells or cells that are naturally affected by a flow (e.g. blood flow). They are probably way more relevant to our system.

  • The cells tolerate to stay outside of the 5% CO2/95% O2 air for a little while!
