Arnljot Høyland (1924-2002) was an active coauthor of the first edition of the book "System Reliability Theory", but sadly died before the second edition was initiated.

Arnljot Høyland was a statistician at NTH/NTNU and has written several introductory textbooks in mathematical statistics (in Norwegian). He was the "father" of the group in mathematical statistics at NTNU and was also a mentor for the other author of your textbook (Marvin Rausand).
