How to install and download Usfos

Installation guides for windows is described below. The easiest way to use Usfos is to connect to one of the IMT remote desktops, see how to here. For linux look here.

  1. Download: Usfos is available for downloaded at http://www.usfos.no/.
  2. Install: Extraxt the .zip archive and run the installer. It is recommended to choose default settings for installation folder and settings.
  3. Update license: After the installation has succeeded, go to the folder you installed Usfos in, and find the bin subfolder. A demo licence key is located there, called usfos.key. Replace this with the key acquired from your lecturer. Remember to rename the new licence key "usfos.key".

For users of Mac OS: Usfos itself and all it core libraries and functions are available for Mac OS. However, this is not the case for the GUI Xact. If you want to use this GUI you will need Linux or Windows. The easiest way to get this is to use the free (GPL-licenced) virtualization package VirtualBox to run Windows or Linux inside Mac OS. After VirtualBox and Windows/Linux is properly configured, you can follow the installation instructions for the operating system as normal.
