Application

Possibilities:
  • Rapid solidification of aluminium alloy or similar materials
  • Close to inert atmosphere 
  • Sample sizes up to 5 dl molten alloy
  • Experiment spesific variations; 
    • in crucible position rel. to chill surface.
    • in material flow rate onto chill surface, e.g. crucible overpressure in addition to orifice size
    • in chill surface rel. velocity
Can not be used for:
  • Oxidizing atmosphere
  • Temperatures above 800*C
Previously used for:
  • Aluminium alloys
