Oppgave nr.: BM8
Kort beskrivelse av oppgaven:
In the future buildings the materials may be tailor-made for achieving miscellaneous functions based on their respective properties. Within this work task there will be a focus on the building envelope, especially related to the climate screen. Examples of these state-of-the-art, new and emerging materials technologies may be vacuum insulation panels (VIP), aerogels, phase change materials (PCM), nano insulation materials (NIM), smart windows, electrochromic materials, photochromic materials, thermochromic materials, light-weight glass materials, superlow-emissivity materials, building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), various solar cell materials and technologies. Multifunctional building envelopes represent another interesting aspect. These materials technologies must also satisfy the building physical aspects of their buildings. Both experimental and theoretical studies may be carried out, also including numerical analysis and modelling. Furthermore, the students will be challenged to write their report as a scientific journal article, which thus will be submitted to an international journal for publication if the quality is satisfactorily high. Among others, one possibility will be to write so-called state-of-the-art and future research articles. Specific experimental work tasks in the laboratory may also be possible, e.g. alongside a PhD student in the field. Specific details about this work task will be given upon request and in discussion groups with dedicated scientific personnel at the department.
