There are culture differences between the campuses which has to be thoroughly explained by the lecturers as early as possible.
Below is a comparison between Gløshaugen and Gjøvik with descriptions.

The full arrows means direct contact and the dotted arrows means that they might have direct contact.

GjøvikGløshaugen

At Gjøvik it is pretty standard for students to have direct contact
with the professors and students often do it because the
student assistants might not know enough to answer certain
questions. The classes are usually smaller so it is easier for
students to get to know their professor.

The courses here has usually been more practically oriented.

At Gløshaugen the student rarely have any direct contact with the professor.
This is partly because of the huge classes at the campus(150++). At Gløshaugen
it is usually the student and teaching assistants that has direct contact with the students.
There might also be scientific assistants that have contact with the students from time to time.
These assistants are split into three different levels with different knowledge depths:

Student assistant - usually the best qualified student that applies
Teaching assistant - usually a master student with high qualifications
Scientific assistant - This is a phd candidate that helps the professor or is working on a contract

The courses are more theoretically oriented and not so much practical.
