Data from HSI
Discussion on how the processing chain should be. Do geometric processing last? Use JPEG2000 to do the spatial compression.
SNR calculations are going on. Find the correct model for noise is difficult.
Walking through calculations on data from test campaigns (google drive). Calculation of SNR, noise not well modelled but a good start.
Mariusz: try play with functions in Matlab and model noise (start easy->complex models).
Issues with determining dark current and Quantization error, have some spec sheets to find out - may estimate to begin with - oceanoptics website.
Hardware
New documentation for the camera (version 5) is uploaded to the Gdrive. New calculations are made.
We still need to make a better CAD-model. Mariusz Eivind Grøtte is working on this, but needs a lot of input in order to finish this.
Julian is working on layout for the PCB. Finding a source for components (image sensors) are hard; not really available on Digikey and so on.
Challenge: How to mount the optics to the new PCB with the image sensor. What kind of fixtures can be used? There might be changes in the distance between the optics to the sensor, but the light after the optics are parallel, so that should not affect operation. Must be verified. The full design should be verified and approved by Fred before production.
Thermal model
Mariusz, Sivert, Roger had a short meeting with a phd-student from mechanical eng. on thermal/environment tests. Should have a meeting with a professor there.
Julian suggests that we try to reverse-engineer the casing and order parts so we can build several for testing.
Need to test smaller cut-off parts and a prototype encasing from CAD. Need to establish material properties (better required?), Young's modulus, elasticity etc. Measurement of thermal expansion coefficient and dimension distortions (micrometers).
Software
Milica has been working on OTFP pre-processing - 500x500x100 size data cube. Working on parallelisation. Plans for next two weeks are to test on the board in communication with memory, further optimization of hardware implementation and so on.
JPEG - Close to complete the flow from input to bitstream.
