The topic of this theoretical master’s thesis is urban design, with a focus on
people with dementia. I chose my topic because it is relevant and important
now. Since the number of elderly people is growing considerably, the number
of people with dementia will also grow. I seek to study what a more dementia
friendly society implies.
How can urban design support people with dementia living at home for life?
This thesis aims to make information and research on dementia friendly
areas more accessible for architects and planners. It is a contribution in
translating research into solutions for dementia friendly urban design.
