Generating the facade with the programm “processing”
INTRODUCTION
Bird watching for me is peace, silence, nature, recreation and
relaxation. The new bird watching tower in rindal will make it
simpler to enjoy the nature and observe the animals without
disturbing it or reduce their habitat.
SITE
The site is located on the southern end of a small lake, close to
the village Rindal. A Path moves around the lake and allows the
access to the bird watching tower, which is placed behind a small
hill. On the hill is a dense forest, which thins out towards the
lake. The optimal site for the tower is located on the north-west
end of the forest, because it has almost unlimited view of the
lake and you get more sunlight as deeper in the small forest.
The place is very quiet and offers optimal conditions to explore
nature and leave everyday life behind.
THE STRUCTURE
My main goal was to create two distinct areas, which are
optimized for their respective use. I wanted to create a good
area for observation and a sort of auditorium for school- and
kindergarten classes. Through my request of Separation and
Consideration of the sun directions i chose that Y-Form in the
floor plan. The shape was also influenced by the existing trees.
The access from the path leads through the wooded hill and
ends in the main entrance, which is located on the east side. The
closed fassade at the entry prepare the visitor for the following
views.
The space for the bird observation is enclosed by the wall, to
allow a definite view and to prevent sideways incident sunlight,
wind and weather influence.
The place for relaxing, teaching and having a bbq is on the
south-west side of the building and leads down to the level of
the environment.
