Management and organization of social and health services (MARS)
About the research group
The Management and organization of social and health services group (MARS) conducts project-based research. We publish articles and systematic reviews of evidence to guide decision-makers, improve health and welfare services, and strengthen population health outcomes. MARS conducts applied research with a multidisciplinary and multimethod starting point, rooted in comparative health services research.
Topics of interest include:
- systematic reviews of complex health system interventions, and methods for synthesizing the findings of multiple qualitative studies and assessing confidence in such findings
- knowledge-making and technological innovation in healthcare
- management and leadership in healthcare organizations
- health policy and reforms
- integrated care
- sustainable healthcare
- the role of GPs in NAV (the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration)
- patient safety and Root Cause Analysis
The research group MARS primarily comprises researchers at NTNU, Department of Health Sciences in Ålesund (IHA). The group also includes researchers from co-workers in Norway and abroad. The knowledge MARS gain is used in the education of managers through The Master in healthcare management program at NTNU.
We collaborate with some of the following networks:
- Cochrane People, Health Systems and Public Health
- Collaboration and development arena for health managers in Møre of Romsdal (SUHEL, Samarbeid of utviklingsarena for helseledere i Møre of Romsdal)
- University municipality collaboration with Ålesund municipality (Universitetskommunesamarbeid med Ålesund kommune)
