The computers at the computer lab got the most recent version of the programs described on the wiki installed and ready to use. These computers can also be accessed remotely. To be able to connect to these remote desktops you have to be connected to NTNUs internet. If you are off-campus you are required to use a VPN, see Orakeltjenestens guide to setting up VPN.

Accessing the remote desktops

  1. Make sure you are connected to NTNUs network.
  2. For windows: search for "Tilkobling til eksternt skrivebord" and open.
    1. Try connecting to "iimtmal2.marin.ntnu.no", each remote desktop only support up to 5 users, try "iimtmal3" or "iimtmal5" if you are having issues.
    2. When prompted with username and password use your NTNU credentials. Important note, username is required on the form "username@ntnu.no".
    3. After successful connection, the easiest way to find the program you are looking for by searching among the desktops applications.
  3. For linux:
    1. Recommend orakeltjenestens tutorial for Linux Hvordan jobbe mot eksternt skrivebord
  4. For mac:
    1. Recommend using the free software Microsoft Remote Desktop (Itunes store)
    2. After launching Microsoft remote desktop click "New" in the top left corner
    3. Under PC name add the computer you want to connect to "iimtmal2.marin.ntnu.no"
    4. Add your NTNU credentials
      1. Username: win-ntnu-no\<Your NTNU username>
      2. Password: Your regular ntnu password
    5. You may now close the configuration window
    6. Select the connection and click "start" to start accessing the remote desktop
