There are many bridges and other coastal structures in Norwegian (and international) waters that needs to be designed for ice actions. But, the knowledge about ice conditions (thickness, strength, occurrence) in Norwegian fjords is very limited. The MB group carries out field work every year in Beistad (close to Steikjer) and a project and master thesis should include field work as well as analysis of data (numerical and / or statistical) and development towards more accurate standards.
