Action items

Data from HSI

  • Sivert is working on his project.
    • HICO-data is level 1B, they might have level 1a - but most likely not level 0
    • Ocean Virtual Laboratory might have level 1a becuase you can go back to level 0 and up to level 1b
  • Joao:
    • Evelyn and Joao had a chat last week
    • Operational data (time-sensitive) vs. scientific data (not as time-sensitive)
      • If we do a scan, and do some processing (might even be lossy) - and downlink it quickly so that the UAV/USV may go explore. The operational data needs to be good enough to make a decision. Actionable data.
      • But the not time-sensitive lossless scientific raw data is downlinked in later orbits (level 1a or level 0)
      • Do we have enough memory to choose which raw data from orbits within a timespan do downlink?
    • Video compression techniques - write a journal paper! Change time to wavelength
    • Fresh water algae bloom?
      • Find scientists and fly a drone with them
      • Geir Johnsen

Hardware

  • PCBs into production next week
  • Documentation:
    • Confluence for now
  • Fred says that we can copy it for internal use

Software

  • Power estimation:
    • ARM-processing system + core. Still working on it to provide estimation with the Xilinq tool
  • There will be a meeting later today

Mission Design

  1. 10AM-orbit: Cover Trondheim. RAAN of 83 degrees - sun-synchronous orbit
    • Worst-case
    • 10 phases
    • Power budget shows that it is difficult to downlink data all orbits
    • Sun is always behind you
  2. 10PM-orbit: Cover the whole coast of Norway.
    • Not easy to find launchers
  • Power 3U
    • Maximum solar power: TBD - we assume 10W?
    • Battery: 2600mAh
    • Difficult to find the actual power provided by the solar panels
  • We do not want a mid-day orbit

Communication

  • Gara has updated the link budget using different assumptions/ground stations - see gdrive
    • Missing noise figures+++
    • Preliminary budget: good enough
