The design of coastal and offshore structures includes uncertainties (in particularly the loads from wind, waves and ice) and the most common way of dealing with this is probabilistic methods. EU wants to expand the production of electricity from offshore wind considerably in the Baltic where there is ice and ice ridges. Dr. Samardzija developed a program that allows for a systematic probabilistic analysis of ice ridge action on structures and now we want to apply it to cases in the Baltic (Bothnia bay).
