How to download and install Nauticus Hull

Nauticus Hull includes some sub-packages, which the installation process is also described here.

How to download NH and 3D Beam to your personal computer:

The recommended approach is to follow the installation instructions on our page DNV, where Nauticus Hull (including 3D Beam) is available through NTNU Software.

  1. However, as we will show here, it can also be downloaded using DNV GL's customer login found at: Customer login. You will need to register first, where all NTNU e-mail addresses will be accepted for making an account, though there could be some waiting time before the account is activated.
  2. When you have gotten an account, locate the latest version of Nauticus Hull, make sure it includes 3D Beam (see picture) and download it (see picture).
  3. You may encounter an error when unzipping the files downloaded ("Error 0x80010135 ...", see picture). If this error occurs, try unzipping the folder using a file archiver, e.g. 7-Zip. To help you with this, we have made a short guide on how to unzip a file using 7-Zip at Tips & tricks.
  4. You may use the same licence as described on DNV.

Note! 3D Beam is available through the version of Nauticus Hull that may be downloaded from NTNU Software. The method above is thus not the recommended approach, but rather a good alternative if needed.

How to use 3D Beam on a campus computer:

3D Beam is currently not installed on all campus computers, so make sure you find a computer with 3D Beam installed before relying on this method.

  1. Choose: ”Start”, ”All Programs”, ”DNV Software”, (evt. “Applications”), ”NAUTICUS 3D Beam”

  2. Maximise ”Nauticus 3D Beam” window

How to use 3D Beam through a remote desktop:

  1. Access one of the remote desktops, guide here. Note that not all remote desktops have 3D Beam installed. If you should connect to one that doesn't, try another one.

  2. Choose: ”Start”, ”All Programs”, ”DNV Software”, (evt. “Applications”), ”NAUTICUS 3D Beam”

  3. Maximise ”Nauticus 3D Beam” window
