About Nauticus Hull

Nauticus Hull is DNV GL's software package for strength assessment of hull structures. It offers all the tools you need for efficient hull design and verification according to DNV GL Rules and IACS Common Structural Rules for bulk carriers and oil tankers (CSR BC & OT).

    How to download and install Nauticus Hull

    Nauticus Hull includes some sub-packages, which the installation process is also described here.

    titleHow to download 3D Beam

    How to download 3D Beam to your personal computer:

    1. Follow the installation instructions on DNV GL. Note that 3D Beam is not included when downloading Nauticus Hull from NTNU Software, so you will have to download it using DNV GL's customer login.
    2. When you have gotten an account, locate the latest version of Nauticus Hull, make sure it includes 3D Beam (see picture) and download it (see picture).
    3. You may encounter an error when unzipping the files downloaded ("Error 0x80010135 ...", see picture). If this error occurs, try unzipping the folder using a file archiver, e.g. 7-Zip. To help you with this, we have made a short guide on how to unzip a file using 7-Zip at Tips & tricks.
    4. You may use the same licence as described on DNV GL.

    How to use 3D Beam on a campus computer:

    1. Choose: ”Start”, ”All Programs”, ”DNV Software”, (evt. “Applications”), ”NAUTICUS 3D Beam”

    2. Maximise ”Nauticus 3D Beam” window

    How to use 3D Beam through a remote desktop:

    1. Access one of the remote desktops, guide here. Note that not all remote desktops have 3D Beam installed. If you should connect to one that doesn't, try another one.

    2. Choose: ”Start”, ”All Programs”, ”DNV Software”, (evt. “Applications”), ”NAUTICUS 3D Beam”

    3. Maximise ”Nauticus 3D Beam” window
