Getting started with Nauticus Hull

Creating a beam

  • Easiest way to create several beams at once: beam wizard (Ctrl+W). Can be found under Tools → Beam Wizard
  • Other option is to draw with the mouse under Model → Create beam. This method is less accurate and can easily lead to mistakes.

Changing beam-profile

  • Enter select mode under Model→ Select. Selected beams/nodes are red
  • Select desired beam(s). In the "property grid" scroll to find "profile" and click the "..." button
  • Either select an existing profile or create a new one. Press "Ok" to confirm selection

Boundary conditions

  • Make sure you're in selection mode (Model→ Select) and select a node
  • In the property grid, press the "..." button to the right of "Boundary condition"
  • For 2D: Rotation and translation out of the plane needs to be fixed. (See picture). This is needed for the system to be solvable
