At NTNU there are a couple of openstack installations. This wiki documents how the following installations are set up, and can be used:
- skyhigh.hig.no - IIK's installation in Gjøvik. Used for education and research activities.
- skylow.hig.no - IIK's testing and development platform.
- stack.it.ntnu.no quick start - NTNU IT's general purpose openstack cloud.
Openstack services
Trough openstack we can provide you:
- Either a single virtual machine with an operating system of your choice
- or a full openstack project where you are able to create networks, routers and virtual machines at your own will.
What you want is entirely up to you. You can decide if you prefer administering things yourself or not.
Getting access
As the installations have different administrators, the contact points differs a little depending on which installation you would like to access.
IIK and Gjøvik:
The department IIK (in Gjøvik and in Trondheim) and all other departments in Gjøvik can contact Eigil or Lars Erik for access to the skyhigh platform. This can be done by sending an email to one or both of them with the following information:
- Who are you, and what do you need openstack for.
- How much resources do you need? Give an estimate on how many CPU's, how much RAM and how much storage you would need.
- How long do you need these resources for?
- How should access to your project be administered?
- Are you the only user who should have access?
- Do you want to administer access yourself?
We are happy to help you out, so if you are a bit uncertain what you want it is fine. We will then figure things out together.
