Openstack is a multi-tenant virtualization-platform, and as a user at NTNU you can get access if you need virtualization resources. Through the openstack platforms at NTNU you can order either one of:

  • A single virtual machine with an operating system of your choice
  • A full openstack project where you are able to create networks, routers and virtual machines at your own will.

Getting access or help

In general, all users should use our contact from forms in NTNU Hjelp. With this form you will get in touch with the appropriate administrators, depending on which affiliation you have with NTNU.

If you for some reason want to contact people directly:

When you are requesting access we ask for the following information:

  • Who are you, and what do you need openstack for.
  • How much resources do you need? Give an estimate on how many CPU's, how much RAM and how much storage you would need.
  • How long do you need these resources for? All projects need an expiration-date before they are granted.
  • How should access to your project be administered?
    • Are you the only user who should have access?
    • Do you want to administer access yourself?

We are happy to help you out, so if you are a bit uncertain what you want it is fine. We will then figure things out togetherThere is one form for getting access, and one form for getting help or reporting issues. With the forms available, you will get in touch with the appropriate team.

Getting started

If you just recieved a full openstack-project, and does not really know how to proceed, we would like to recommend one of our initial-setup guides:
