Specialization Project

Submission

NB! Most international students will not write a specialization project.

The specialization project thesis is submitted through Inspera. The submission deadline will be on 20 December at 14:00. You should plan for some extra time for the submission, in case you run into technical problems. Make sure to download a copy of your submission after uploading, just to make sure there were no data corruption during the upload. Any attachments that do not fit into the main report (eg. large data sets, audio/video etc.) must be delivered as a zip file in question two of the Inspera task.

You shall not submit a printed edition of the project thesis. The only exception is if you have large technical drawings or other things that needs to be printed.

Front page template

Example front page templates below. You may use one of these of you want to, the department does not set any requirements to the front or first pages.

Deadline extension

Deadline extensions are granted only if your delay is caused by events outside of your control, like missing gear, lab availability, data corruption etc.

High workload due to the student taking extra courses, working along with the studies, prioritizing reading for exams etc. are examples of reasons that DO NOT qualify for an extension.

If you have a valid reason for getting an extension, please send an application along with your supervisor's endorsement to studier@ibm.ntnu.no.

Master's thesis

Contract and startup

Please check NTNU's info pages for master's theses: https://innsida.ntnu.no/en/masteroppgave

Visiting exchange students may check the box for "writing thesis abroad". International students admitted to an international master's programme may only do so if they are staying in a third country, not Norway or their home country.

Delayed startup

Delayed startup will be approved as long as your supervisor agree. Remember that a delayed startup will move the submission deadline closer to/into the summer holidays, and your supervisor might not be available for questions.

Finishing the thesis

Skipnes and NTNU Grafisk Senter are both providing services for students to check the final PDF for errors and to generate a front page. We strongly recommend using their services for the generation of the final PDF.

You may, if you want to, also order printed copies. You shall not submit printed copies to the department. Any copies you do order must be paid for by you.

See NTNUs master's thesis pages for more information.

Deadline extention

Extentions will only be given for reasons outside of the student's control. Applications must be sent to postmottak@iv.ntnu.no . In case of medical issues, please attach a doctor's note. For all other reasons, please CC your supervisor and ask your supervisor to endorse your application.
