Overview:

Blockchains can revolutionise the way we understand value chains in the traditional manu- facturing industry. ManuFuture has put out three scenarios for future value chains: ad-hoc where tasks are set out in an open market auction: closed where secret data, e.g. process data, is shared internally to a closed number of participants; and distributed/network-based where small production sites near the local market pay to access drawings of a product the customer wants. In order to fully understand these emerging value chains, we need to understand how to transform traditional business models into a more distributed model of sharing information, and intellectual property rights. How, using modern technologies, to share information that is regarded as sensitive, to the mutual benefit of all stakeholders.
