STORE2HYDRO
Our store2hydro research team is getting ready for the performance test for the reversible pump-turbine in the Waterpower laboratory. The performance tests will follow the IEC60193. Currently, we are conducting calibration of the critical instruments and sensors to be integrated into the pump-turbine test rig. The measurements will also include extreme operating conditions, including cavitation performance in both pump and turbine mode, s-curve characteristics and transients. We are planning to integrate additional pressure sensors for high frequency logging of unsteady pressure data. Please visit the store2hydro website for more detail about the work and project.
Student project (with master thesis) opportunity
We have opening for six student projects (and master thesis) under store2hydro and FME RenewHydro research projects. The project focuses on experimental and numerical studies on reversible pump-turbine. The selected students will work on design and optimization of thruster for the reversible pump-turbine. The students will have opportunity to work in a large research project with a large research team at the Waterpower laboratory. The students will work in the laboratory and carry out numerical simulations using ANSYS.
Researcher opportunity
Postdoctoral Fellowship
We are scheduled to recruit another researcher (Postdoctoral Fellow) in store2hydro team. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be another addition to the existing PhD researcher in the team. The recruited Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for the project activities including, project deliveries, milestones, publications, numerical modeling of the reversible pump-turbine, thruster and the preparing test rig for the large scale experiments under work package 5 of the project. The Postdoctoral Fellow will also responsible for design of the thruster, preparing essential drawings for the manufacturing of the thruster and conducting measurements. The candidate will work on a research project (Store2hydro) financed by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe framework. Research activities in NTNU (Waterpower laboratory) focuses on reversible pump-turbine and improving flexibility. The research aims to develop technological solution for the pump-turbine to minimize the cavitation. The research on pump-turbine strongly collaborate with Uppsala University, Sweden. The project work collaborates with other partners in Europe, and gives opportunity to the phd student to exchange ideas and make network. The selected postdoctoral fellow will also have opportunity to attend the conference and project meeting.
The selected candidate will be responsible to,
- Perform research under the research project (store2hydro) and report the progress on a regular basis (follow the project milestones and deliverable) in agreement with the supervisor(s)
- Conduct experimental and numerical research according to the research plan in the research project. The candidate must expect to conduct experiments (including preparing the test rig) and numerical simulations independently
- Communication and dissemination of research results are core requirement therefore the candidate is expected to write and publish high-quality journal articles, and present her/his work at international conferences
