Distribution:
A wide range comprising southern Bolivia and Paraguay, as well as the Argentinean provinces of Jujuy, Salta, Formosa, Chaco, Tucumán, Santiago del Estero, Catamarca, La Rioja, Córdoba, San Luis, San Juan, Mendoza, La Pampa, Río Negro, Santa Fe, Entre Ríos and Buenos Aires.

Habitat:
The genus Timogenes is a typical inhabitant of the Chacoan Biogeographic Domain. Timogenes elegans is the species with wider range, comprising mainly the Chacoan Province, but also the "espinal", the "Monte" and the "Prepuna". This species is burrow-dweller.

Venom:
No medical importance.
