Beam tests
Based on the data from in situ experiments with canti-
lever floating ice beams performed in the Svalbard
fjords, in the Barents Sea and on lake ice, the depend-
ence of flexural strength from liquid brine volume
content was determined in a wide range depending on
the brine content (red line in Figure 20). Limit values
of the flexural strength for fresh ice were measured to
be about 500 kPa. This is much lower than limit values
