MASTER OF SCIENCE IN MARINE TECHNOLOGY
ABOUT THE STUDY PROGRAMME
The two year Master of Science degree in
Marine Technology gives you a chal-
lenging and exciting education for the
future. Marine Technology is an ideal
specialisation for first-degree engine-
ers with technical interests. This is
an education that provides innovative,
professional challenges and lead to a
variety of career possibilities.
The programme is offered annually.
Preliminary application is 1 December
for non-Scandinavian applicants, and
15 April for Scandinavians. The MSc
programme starts in mid August and
consists of compulsory and elective
courses and a project thesis. A total
of 90 credits are completed in the first
three semesters while the 4th and final
semester is dedicated to the master’s
thesis of 30 credits. For further details

The two-year international Master of
Science degree programme in Marine
technology offers seven main profiles to
choose between.

1. Marine Structures
2. Marine Hydrodynamics
3. Marine Cybernetics
4. Marine Operation Technology and
Safety
5. Marine Engineering
6. Marine Systems Design and Logistics
7. Marine Resources and Aquaculture
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The standard entry requirements to this
MSc programme is a Bachelor degree
(or similar qualifications) of at least 3
years at university level in fields related
to marine technology and navigation. An
additional entrance requirement is rele-
vant at-sea experience of 12 months or
more. All applications will be evaluated
by an admission committee.
JOB PROSPECTS
The field of marine technology is truly
international and thus offers a broad
spectre of jobs. A MSc degree in Marine
Technology is recognized and accepted
by the maritime and shipping industries
and academic institutions worldwide.
Graduates have found key positions in
a wide range of areas. Examples are in
maritime administration and classifica-
tion societies, offshore, shipping- and
ship management companies, the Royal
Norwegian Navy, maritime educational
and research institutions, oil companies
and consulting services.
