Winter school in Stochastic programming
In April 2013 around 100 participants met in Tignes,
France at the second PhD winter school focusing on
managing uncertainty in energy systems and markets.
Out of these, 80 where PhD students coming from all
over Europe, South-America, USA and Asia.
The lecturers were Mette Bjørndal, NHH; Stein-Erik
Fleten, NTNU; Friedrich Kunz, DIW Berlin; Abdel Lisser,
Université Paris Sud; Francesca Maggioni, University of
Bergamo; Michel Minoux, Université de Pierre et Marie
Curie; Shmuel Oren, UC Berkeley; Georg Pflug, Uni-
versity of Vienna; Andy Philpott, University of Auck-
land; Leif Sandal, NHH; Rüdiger Schultz, University of
Duisburg-Essen; Suvrajeet Sen, University of Southern
California; Yves Smeers, Université Catholique de
Lovain; Asgeir Tomasgard, NTNU and Stein W. Wallace,
NHH.
The winter school was co-organized by CenSES and
prof. Abdel Lisser from Université Paris Sud. The school
was sponsored by CenSES, Électricité de France and
the Norwegian research school in business economics
and administration (NFB).

The winter school is part of a series of PhD education
events that started with the winter school organized
by CenSES at Oppdal in 2011. In 2012 a follow up
workshop was organized at Oppdal where many of
the PhD students presented. Similar events will take
place over the next years.
