Bio energy constitute another area of emergent car-
bon lean technologies and results from Tomas Moe
Skjølsvold indicate that where there are established a
strong focus on knowledge as a policy device, but the
existence of very different bodies of knowledge com-
plicate what is optimistically observed as a translation
from knowledge to policy.
From research on innovations and learning in energy
policy (WP4) we would especially highlight result from
PhD candidate Eirik Swensen’s studies of the role of
climate skeptics indicate that in their framing, which is
very different from how climate research generally
frames the issue, still exist the potential for creating
socially robust knowledge on climate field.
Connected to this line of work is the need to under-
stand more of how technologists and environmental
movements have related and relate to the technology
considered to be most central in Norwegian transition
strategies, CCS. Swensen has in 2013 presented and
disseminated preliminary results from investigation
of the carbon capture debate from a techno-political
perspective.
from technical descriptions of climate-friendly energy
production, through descriptions of financial solutions
to make renewable energy affordable, to political arti-
cles on how policy need to be shaped to succeed with
moving towards a greener society.
As a second main activity, Grønn Fase was present at
NorRen’s summer school in August. Here the partici-
pants were asked to present the outcome of the group
work as articles on Grønn Fase’s blog. As a result, the
blog also got international readers.
In 2014 Grønn Fase will give out Grønn Fase’s Energy
Prize for the third time. Hopefully it will produce
many good ideas on renewable energy issues, some
of which might be developed and evolve into viable
renewable technologies.
