NGLISH SUMMARY
The purpose of this study is to investigate the connection between the consumption of coffee and
muscular/skeletal pain. The data used are taken from a survey of about 40.000 men and women aged 40-
42, carried out in 1994-96 in seven counties in Norway. The analysis shows significant associations not
just of coffee consumption and pain, but also with smoking whereas regular strenuous exercise is
associated with less experience of such pains.
