Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines. AI systems are able to interpret data and decide its further actions based on that interpretation. Due to the increased success and usability of such systems in recent years, AI has become very popular in different settings.

At the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (IE), we have a strong and diverse AI research community. We work with a variety of technology areas and approaches to AI, such as visual computing and image recognition, digital twins, robotics and autonomous systems, language technology, explainable AI, AI & IoT, and more.

The IE Faculty hosts two centers that are focusing on AI, The Norwegian Open AI Lab (NAIL) and the Norwegian Research Center for AI Innovation (NorwAI). These two centers collaborate closely.
