Jeg er førsteamanuensis i anvendt språkvitenskap ved Senter for faglig kommunikasjon (NTNU), hvor jeg for tiden underviser og forsker på ulike områder innenfor forskningsformidling.
Jeg er spesielt interessert i hvordan språkvitenskap kan hjelpe oss å forstå og løse utfordringer innen forskningsformidling, både på individ- og samfunnsnivå.
Noe av det mest spennende ved stillingen min er det å undervise 5-års masterstudenter samt PhD-kandidater i STEM-disipliner i hvordan de kan kommunisere sin forskning til ulike samfunnsaktører; hvordan bli bevisst på og bidra til aktuelle diskurser knyttet til deres forskningsområder. Dette arbeidet bygger på mine forskningsinteresser innen kognitiv lingvistikk, fraseologi, vitenskapelig skriving, og akademisk engelsk (EAP).
I denne undervisningskonteksten er jeg også vert og veileder til amerikanske studenter (læringsassistenter) som kommer til NTNU gjennom US Fulbright-programmet.
Min formelle opplæring er primært i språkforskning og språkdidaktik innen bruksbasert lingvistikk; jeg har også bakgrunn i biologi. Jeg fikk min doktorgrad i anvendt språkvitenskap fra Universitetet i Groningen (2013) under veiledning av prof. Kees de Bot og prof. Marjolin Verspoor. Før jeg begynte på NTNU i 2017 var jeg postdoktor ved MultiLing, et multidisiplinært forskningssenter ved Universitetet i Oslo.
