Gunnar Austrheim

Om

Min hovedinteresse innen bevaringsbiologi og økologi er hvordan menneskeskapte prosesser påvirker biologisk mangfold, økosystem funksjoner og tjenester på ulike romlige og temporære skalaer.

Min kompetanse er primært innen alpine, semi-naturlige og boreale (barskog og løvskog) plantesamfunn og økosystemer hvor vi har sett på hvordan arealbruk i samspill med klima påvirker biomangfold samt ulike økosystemtjenester. Jeg interesserer meg og for økologien i urbane økosystem og spesielt hvordan bruken av grasmarker påvirker samhandlingen mellom planter og pollinatorer.

Erfaringer fra tverrfaglig prosjekter har gitt innsikt i hvordan vitenskap og politikk samvirker, hvordan f.eks. sosioøkonomiske drivkrefter påvirker natur, og hvordan folk oppfatter og responderer på disse endringene. Mye av dette tverrfaglige arbeidet har handlet om hvordan husdyr og ville beitedyr påvirker økosystemet, men også hvordan forvaltningen av store planteetere skjer i samhandling med jord- og skogbruksektoren.

Jeg underviser i flere kurs på Bachlor-, Master- og PhD-nivå ved NTNU. Jeg har hovedansvaret for kurset «Sustainable Management of Ecosystem Services» (RFEL3082) https://www.ntnu.no/studier/emner/RFEL3082#tab=omEmnet på Masterprogrammet i Naturressursforvaltning https://www.ntnu.no/studier/msnarm
