Francis Rose Hartline

france rose hartline (han/ham) er en kunstner og aktivist for skeive, kjønnsvarierte og funksjonshemmedes rettigheter. Opprinnelig fra USA, flyttet han til Norge i 2013, hvor han fullførte en MFA i kunst (2015) og PhD i kjønnsstudier (2020) ved Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet (NTNU) i Trondheim, Norge. Han fullførte også et postdoktorstipend i kjønnsstudier (2024) ved Ochanomizu University i Tokyo, Japan. Siden 2022 har france vært involvert i funksjonshemmedes rettighetsaktivisme ved å lede NTNUs INCLUDE, et nettverk for funksjonshemmede universitetsansatte, som er det første av sitt slag i Norge. For tiden bor france i Trondheim, Norge, og jobber med kunstbasert forskning som en forkjemper for kjønnsvariert glede gjennom papirhåndverk.
Forskning
Siden 2004 har jeg vært involvert i samfunnsvitenskapelig og kunstnerisk forskning. Kjønn, seksualitet, kultur og funksjonshemning har vært av særlig interesse. Mitt arbeid har spennet over mange kontekster (USA, Sør-Afrika, Lesotho, India, Sverige, Japan og Norge), med fokus på hvordan kulturelle verdier former forståelser av forskjell og tilhørighet. For tiden jobber jeg hovedsakelig med funksjonshemmedes rettigheter og inkludering, samt med kunstneriske metoder for undervisning og læring.
