My background is as a reasearcher in computer vision, with a particular interest in the use of automated systems for understanding animal behaviour and development.
Current research
As of May 2024 I am part of a new research group within the Department of Natural history, using computer vision and machine learning to investigate the NTNU University Museum's vast collection of natural history specimens with the goal of making them digitally available to researchers and using digitised records to enable research in biology, ecology and taxonomy.
PhD work (completing summer 2024)
My PhD project is a cross-disciplinary effort involving computer vision and machine learning, biology and cybernetics. I aim to improve autonomous monitoring of fish health with novel imaging systems in the laboratory and deployed on Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs).
I work with SINTEF Ocean as part of the Ocean Observation and Ecology group, where I am supervised by Dr. Emlyn Davies and Dr. Bjørn Henrik Hansen. My supervisor at NTNU is Prof. Martin Ludvigsen, and I am a part of the Applied Underwater Robotics Laboratory (AURLab).
