Taufik Akbar Sitompul
Om
Taufik Akbar Sitompul is a senior researcher at the Department of Design and also a member of the NTNU Shore Control Lab. Since February 2024, he has been leading a work package on social and environmental impact assessment in the SHEREC project, which aims to improve safety and environmental footprint in the ship recycling industry through the deployment of robots. In addition to research, he is also teaching Information Visualization and Maritime Work System Design.
Taufik joined NTNU in February 2022 as a postdoctoral researcher in the SFI Autoship project, where he previously conducted research on user interface designs for remotely operated port cranes. Before joining NTNU, he was also involved in few EU-funded initiatives, such as EIT Digital, Startify7, EUDAT, and ImmerSAFE.
He received BSc in multimedia studies from the National University of Malaysia, MSc in service design and engineering from both Aalto University, Finland and University of Trento, Italy, and PhD in human-computer interaction from Mälardalen University, Sweden.
