Jacob Wüsthoff Linder

Om

Jacob Linder is Professor of Physics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology since 2013, receiving his Ph.D in physics in 2009.

His main research interest lies is the quantum physics that emerges when combining materials with different properties and driving them out of equilibrium, in particular systems with superconducting or magnetic properties.

Since 2017, he is one of the primary investigators in the Center of Excellence QuSpin at NTNU. He is also involved in the Great Norwegian Encyclopedia (Store Norske Leksikon) where he is responsible for the categories Quantum Physics, Material Physics, and Atomic and Nuclear Physics.

Forskning

Driven by scientific curiosity and technological developments, we investigate physics at the nanoscale in materials. Condensed matter displays a wealth of interesting and exotic behavior which ultimately should be possible to understand through quantum physical theory. We are part of the Center of Excellence QuSpin at NTNU (2017-2027).

Our research is theoretical in nature, meaning that we use analytical and numerical models to describe the complex interactions that takes place in materials. Our focus is particularly on quantum transport and we have a strong link to experimental activity, collaborating regularly with international groups.
